Israel Association of Teachers and Professional Dancers (IATPD) was established by Mr.Shemi Pary in 1966. Until 1990 there was no serious work on popularization of Dancesport in Israel. There were several reasons for it as lack of professional teachers, state support, dance couples and dancesport in as a whole. Serious development of dancesport in Israel became real with the beginning of the last immigration wave from USSR. A lot of coaches and competitors came to Israel during that period.

From 1991 the regular championships both for amateurs and professionals are held in Israel. Professional couples represented Israel on world and European championships in all 5 programs. Anatoliy & Tatyana Trilissky were the first professional couple who represented Israel abroad in 1992.

During several years Israel was presented in WD&DSC by a committee of two associations. In 1998 these two associations had amalgamated. Anatoliy Trilissky was elected as a president of IATPD.

Recently great work in improvement of coaches' professional level was done. IATPD organizes attestation exams for judges and coaches, hands diplomas and licenses. Association has over 60 members. IATPD has great contacts with all dance community and often invites foreign coaches to Israel to improve professional level of teachers and dancers.
